10 Facts About Final Judgment
Aaron Erhardt

  1. The resurrection assures that judgment will occur (Acts 17:31) (1)

  2. Judgment will follow the second coming (Matt. 25:31-32)

  3. Jesus will be the Judge (2 Tim. 4:8) (2)

  4. The Word will be the standard (Jn. 12:48) (3)

  5. Every deed will be made manifest (1 Tim. 5:24-25)

  6. Every person will be judged (2 Cor. 5:10)

  7. Angels will be judged (2 Pet. 2:4) (4)

  8. The righteous will be rewarded (Matt. 25:34)

  9. The unrighteous will be punished (Matt. 25:41)

  10. Saints will participate with Christ in the judgment (1 Cor. 6:2-3) (5)

Footnotes:

  1. The resurrection verifies every claim of Jesus and the apostles.

  2. John 5:22 says, “The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son.” This does not mean that the Father will not participate in judgment, He will (1 Pet. 1:17; 2:23). The Father will judge through the Son.

  3. We will be judged by the New Testament. Those who lived before the coming of Christ will be judged by the revelation given to them.

  4. In Matthew 8:29, the demons asked Jesus, “Have you come here to torment us before the time?” “Before the time” is a reference to final judgment. Therefore, they should probably be identified with the fallen angels in 2 Peter 2:4 and Jude 6.

  5. Just how saints will participate with Christ in judgment is unclear. Apparently the details were already known by the saints in Corinth.
