Abortion:
The Disposing of Our Children Today
we live in a world where everything is easily disposable. If we do not like
something we simply get rid of it. If you don’t want to pay your bills, you
can file bankruptcy; if you no longer want to be married, you can file for
divorce; and sadly, when you don’t want your baby, you can kill it.
Unfortunately, all of this sin is sanctioned and backed by our own government.
The
estimated number of abortions in the United States since the Supreme Court
handed down its 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision is 54,559,615. The number means there
are more than 3,300 abortions daily and 137 abortions per hour every hour in the
United States. Translated another way, an abortion is done about every 30
seconds in the United States. The
founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, in her book, Woman
and the New Race, argues that because the conditions of large families tend
to involve poverty and illness, it is better for everyone involved if a
child’s life is snuffed out before he or she has a chance to pose difficulties
to its family. She goes on to write that we should apply a stern and rigid
policy of sterilization and segregation to that grade of population whose
progeny is tainted, or whose inheritance is such that objectionable traits may
be transmitted to offspring. This wicked and evil reasoning has devalued human
life and placed the greater value on health and finance. What an evil, wicked
woman and organization. The Lord “hates” those who shed innocent blood
(Proverbs 6:16-17). “Cursed be anyone who takes a bribe to shed innocent
blood” (Deuteronomy 27:25). It’s
a shame that a child has no rights or protection in the womb, but when a woman
discards a child at birth—in an alley or trash—and the baby dies, only then
can she be convicted of murder. The Bible says we would grow cold to wickedness
(Matthew 24:12). It has become evident how much we have digressed from the
commandments of God, to just doing whatever makes us feel better. Our children
are to be loved unconditionally, not thrown into the dumpster like trash.
Children are a blessing and gift from God. This passage clearly shows that life does not begin three weeks or four months later down the road; life begins at conception. Who is more innocent than an unborn baby? Yet, our society has become so wicked that it condones the slaying of 1.5 million innocent children every year. We must take a stance as Christians at every turn. Our voices must ring louder than the highest-ranking official in the free world or against anyone who condones the slaying of an innocent life. We cannot yield, and God will not yield, when it comes to His judgment on this issue. |
